Washington, D.C. — In a move that’s already drawing celebration from conservatives nationwide, Arizona Congressman Abe Hamadeh cast a strong YES vote on H.R. 22 — the SAVE Act, a Republican-led initiative aimed at tightening up voter integrity across the country.

The bill passed 220–208, with unanimous Republican support and a handful of Democrats crossing the aisle to join them. According to official House records, 216 Republicans and 4 Democrats voted in favor, with 208 Democrats in opposition.

The SAVE Act, or “Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act,” seeks to bolster voter confidence by enforcing federal Voter ID mandates, closing existing loopholes, and ensuring that state voter rolls are cleaned and kept accurate.

Supporters of the bill — including Hamadeh — argue it’s a necessary step to restore faith in the electoral process following years of growing skepticism and controversy around election administration.

Democrats Oppose, But Momentum Grows

Despite intense opposition from Democrats — who argue the bill imposes unnecessary hurdles and could lead to disenfranchisement — momentum for the SAVE Act is growing, particularly among states already exploring stricter voter verification methods.

Hamadeh has been consistent in his messaging since entering Congress: election integrity is a top priority. As a former prosecutor and Army intelligence officer, he’s repeatedly emphasized the importance of secure elections as a matter of both civic trust and national security.

“This isn’t about making it harder to vote — it’s about making it impossible to cheat,” Hamadeh told supporters at a town hall earlier this year.

What’s Next

With the House passage now complete, the SAVE Act heads to the Senate, where it must pass in order to reach President Donald Trump’s desk. Even if it faces a tougher road in the upper chamber, conservatives see this as a major statement: a clear message that election security is not going away — and the GOP is ready to lead on it.
